FirstEnergy - Anyone seeing changes in hiring/projects?

Throwaway account here. Been with FirstEnergy for a few years now, and things have felt pretty stable, relatively speaking. However, lately I've noticed a slowdown in new project approvals, and some open requisitions I was aware of seem to have gone quiet. It's not a massive shift, but it's a noticeable change from the pace we were running at maybe 6-12 months ago. Is this a company-wide thing, or am I just in a department that's feeling the pinch more? I haven't heard any direct layoff rumors, but the hiring freeze/slowdown is definitely a canary in the coal mine for some. Trying to gauge if this is a broader trend across the company or just specific teams. Anyone else in a position to observe hiring trends or project pipelines? What's the word in your neck of the woods?

I'm in a different part of the company, but I've definitely seen a similar trend. It feels like budgets are being scrutinized more heavily across the board. Project pipelines seem to be tightening up, and there's a general sense of caution. It's not panic stations by any means, but the 'green light' mentality from a year or two ago has definitely shifted. Curious to hear if others are experiencing this too, especially in areas like renewables or infrastructure upgrades.

I haven't personally observed a slowdown in my department, but I have heard some chatter from colleagues in other divisions about project delays and a more deliberate approach to hiring. It could be tied to the current economic climate or specific strategic shifts within the company. It's always hard to get the full picture from just internal observations, but your experience doesn't sound entirely isolated based on what I've picked up second-hand.
