Is the Montgomery office being phased out slowly?

It’s starting to feel like death by a thousand cuts. First, we lose a handful of people here and there, and now another 18 in Montgomery just got their notices earlier this month. The official line is always 'operational efficiency' or 'streamlining,' but we all know that’s just code for padding the margins before the next earnings call. I’ve been with the company for over a decade and the morale has never been this low. You walk down the halls and everyone is just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Nobody is actually doing their jobs because they’re too busy refreshing the WARN notices and looking at their severance packages. Does anyone have any insight into if this is the end of the cuts for the summer, or is corporate planning to keep chipping away at the PA operations until there's nothing left? It’s exhausting trying to keep up with the workload when you’re constantly wondering if you’re next on the spreadsheet.

It’s not just you. I’ve seen this exact cycle play out in other departments over the past few years. Management loves to throw around buzzwords like 'synergy' and 'efficiency' while the people actually doing the work get shoved out the door. The Montgomery situation is definitely a precursor to a wider consolidation effort. Don’t wait for them to give you the signal; if you have the chance to move on, take it. This company has stopped valuing institutional knowledge a long time ago, and it’s only going to get worse from here. Start updating your resume today.

I honestly think the writing has been on the wall for Montgomery for a while now. It feels like leadership is systematically dismantling the regional presence to centralize everything, regardless of the impact on our actual service capabilities. It’s draining to watch good colleagues walk out the door every other month. Whether it’s a full closure or just a shell of its former self, the office isn’t going to look the same by next year. Keep your head down, protect your mental health, and keep your options open. We’re all just numbers on a spreadsheet to them.
