I experienced something similar in my review. It was definitely more templated than in past years, and the lack of specific examples for improvement was concerning. It felt less like a development discussion and more like a check-the-box exercise. Makes you wonder if there's a company-wide shift in how they're approaching performance management, and if so, what the underlying reasons might be.
Yep, my review was odd too. Felt like my manager was reading off a pre-written script. There was very little personalized feedback, which is usually a hallmark of our process. Combined with the vague 'areas for development,' it's definitely a bit unsettling. I'm hoping it's just a temporary change in process, but it's hard not to think about what it could mean long-term.
