Anyone else getting weird vibes about the upcoming Q3 review?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere shifted significantly over the last month? I’ve been with Fluor for a few years now, and usually, when we’re between major project phases, there’s at least some talk about resource reallocation. Lately, it’s just been radio silence from leadership. I’ve noticed a few more 'strategy sync' meetings being added to calendars, and the usual transparency we get from the PMs seems to have evaporated. I haven’t heard any confirmed rumors of a RIF, but the lack of communication is making me nervous. My billability is solid, but we all know that doesn't always matter when the higher-ups decide to trim the fat to hit margin targets for the shareholders. Are there any whispers coming out of the Houston or Greenville offices? I’m seriously considering polishing up the resume just in case, because I’ve been through a forced departure before and I’d rather be ahead of the curve this time. Anyone seeing similar patterns or is this just standard end-of-quarter stress?

I’ve been tracking the same patterns. Those vague strategy syncs are a classic precursor to something significant. In my experience, when leadership goes quiet and starts adding back-to-back high-level meetings, they’re usually finalizing the details of a structural shift or a headcount reduction. It’s definitely unsettling, especially with the Q3 review looming. Everyone is on edge, but nobody wants to be the one to voice it openly. Just keep your files updated and make sure your internal networking is solid. It’s better to be prepared than caught off guard when the announcement eventually drops.

You aren't imagining things, but try not to panic yet. Fluor has always been a bit opaque during transition periods between major phases. While the silence is definitely frustrating, it’s not always a guarantee of a RIF. Sometimes these 'strategy syncs' are just mid-management scrambling to justify budgets or realign resources for upcoming bids. That said, the lack of transparency is the real problem here—it breeds paranoia. Just stay focused on your deliverables and ignore the office gossip for now. If something real is coming down the pipeline, you’ll know soon enough.
