Considering looking elsewhere - what's the market like for Fortinet engineers?

Been here for 6 years, currently a senior security architect. Love the tech, but the recent whispers and the general atmosphere are making me think it might be time to dust off the resume. For those who have left recently or are actively interviewing, what are the current opportunities like for someone with my background? Are other cybersecurity companies actively hiring and what kind of compensation packages are people seeing outside of Fortinet? Any advice on how to position my experience from here for a smoother transition would be greatly appreciated. Trying to get a sense of the competitive landscape and what the going rate is for experienced folks in this space. Not necessarily looking to jump ship immediately, but want to be prepared.

Hey man, I totally get the feeling. I bailed about 18 months ago after a similar tenure. The market for experienced security folks, especially with Fortinet certs and architecture experience, is still pretty solid. I saw a lot of interest from MSSPs and larger enterprises looking to consolidate their security stack, and they were definitely willing to pay. Don't undersell your experience – six years in architecture is valuable. Network security, cloud security, and automation skills are hot. Definitely polish up your LinkedIn and start reaching out.

Honestly, I'm seeing mixed signals. Fortinet engineers are skilled, no doubt, but the market is also flooded with talent right now. Comp packages seem to be stabilizing after a few years of insane growth. You might find better opportunities if you diversify beyond just Fortinet. Broadening your skillset to include cloud-native security tools, Kubernetes security, or even offensive security could open more doors. Have you considered specific roles like cloud security engineer or application security architect? Those seem to be in demand.
