Is anyone else seeing a hiring freeze creep in?

Been with Fortinet for about 3 years now, in the SE team for the West region. Lately, it feels like the taps have been turned off. We had a few roles open up for Q3, but now they're all on hold indefinitely. My manager is being cagey, just says 'budget reviews.' This isn't like us. Usually, we're always on the hunt for good talent, especially in security sales. Anyone else hearing similar whispers or seeing their team's hiring plans get shelved? Makes you wonder what's brewing behind the scenes. Worried about my own team's capacity if we can't backfill critical roles.

Yeah, I've heard some similar rumblings too, though not officially confirmed. It's definitely a change of pace from how things were just a year or two ago. My team had a couple of reqs that just vanished from the system last month, and the explanation was pretty vague. 'Budget reviews' sounds like the standard script when things get tight. Hopefully, it's just a temporary pause and not a sign of bigger issues. Keep your ear to the ground, maybe some more concrete info will surface soon.

Hold on a sec, 'hiring freeze' might be a bit dramatic. Companies have cycles, and Q3/Q4 are often when budgets get reassessed for the next fiscal year. 'Budget reviews' is pretty standard corporate speak for 'we're being cautious with spending until we have a clearer picture.' If the sales performance is still strong, they'll likely unfreeze things once the dust settles. Don't panic just yet; sometimes these things are just bureaucratic hurdles rather than a true slowdown.
