Suddenly ghosted after 'positive' progress updates

I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but something feels off. I’ve been interviewing for a Senior SE role at Fortinet for the past six weeks. Everything was moving along perfectly—positive feedback from the hiring manager, technical rounds went great, and I was told to expect a call regarding the final stages by mid-week. Now? Total radio silence. I sent a polite follow-up on Friday and got absolutely nothing back. I’m starting to wonder if there’s a quiet freeze or an internal reshuffle happening that they aren't telling candidates about yet. I’ve seen some people posting about similar delays lately. If the company is tightening the belt internally, it would explain why they’ve suddenly stopped responding to external talent. If anyone has insight into whether hiring is still actually happening or if I should just assume I’m ghosted, I’d appreciate the heads-up. It’s brutal out here.

This is classic Fortinet behavior. They are notorious for dragging out hiring processes until the very last second. It is highly likely they are dealing with an internal budget freeze or they are waiting to see if a preferred internal candidate or a cheaper external option becomes available. Do not let this eat at you; it is a systemic issue with their HR operations. Keep applying elsewhere and assume this position is effectively dead until you get something written in an offer letter.

I have been through this exact scenario with them before. The radio silence usually means the hiring manager is waiting on corporate to release the requisition or they have hit a sudden hiring pause. It is frustrating, but it rarely has anything to do with your performance. They tend to leave candidates in limbo rather than sending a formal rejection because they want to keep you as a backup. Treat it as a 'no' for now and focus your energy on companies that actually respect your time.
