Seeing a lot of movement in the Fortive Business System (FBS) talk lately. Management is suddenly obsessed with 'lean' workflows again, which usually precedes a headcount reduction in my experience. I’ve noticed a few senior project managers who have been here for 5+ years just suddenly 'resigned' over the last two weeks, and they weren’t replaced. You know how it goes—it's never a layoff until it’s a layoff. It’s always 'restructuring' or 'role realignment' until the severance packages hit your inbox. I’m just trying to figure out if this is isolated to the industrial segments or if the software side is feeling the pressure too. If you’re seeing budget freezes or a sudden 're-prioritization' of projects in your department, sound off. I’m tired of the guessing game and the fake transparency.

I’ve been tracking the internal chatter and it’s definitely hitting the R&D side of things. The push for FBS efficiency is just a smoke screen for trimming the budget. Whenever they start harping on 'lean workflows' and 'resource optimization,' it's time to keep your resume polished. Seeing those senior PMs vanish without replacements is the classic Fortive playbook. Don't wait for an official announcement because they’ll frame it as a strategic shift right up until the access badges stop working.

It is honestly exhausting to watch this play out again. Every few years, management rolls out the same old jargon about business systems to justify gutting the engineering talent. If you are in R&D, you should be concerned. The 'restructuring' label is just a way to avoid the legal fallout of calling it a layoff. If you see your colleagues suddenly leaving without a transition plan, assume the worst. Stay alert and keep your network warm, because the atmosphere is clearly shifting toward another round of cuts.
