It’s been a rough week for those of us connected to the Delcambre site. Seeing 27 colleagues get cut on the 30th is a sobering reminder that nobody is safe, regardless of tenure. I’ve reached out to a few of the people impacted, and it sounds like the severance packages are pretty standard, but that doesn't make the sudden transition any easier. We’re already being told that the remaining workload is going to be absorbed by other sites, which is just classic Fortune Brands efficiency—do more with less until someone breaks. If you’re at another plant, keep your head down and start backing up your personal files. It feels like the 'restructuring' phase is nowhere near finished.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is incredibly demoralizing to watch talented coworkers get pushed out while the company expects those left behind to simply pick up the slack without additional support. The 'more with less' mentality is exactly why morale is plummeting across the board. Take care of yourself during this transition and reach out to your support network; sometimes just knowing you aren't alone in the frustration makes a small difference.

It is honestly disgusting how Fortune Brands treats its workforce like replaceable widgets. Dumping the extra workload onto the survivors is a recipe for burnout and further turnover. They claim it is about efficiency, but it is really just about padding the bottom line at the expense of human well-being. Don’t break your back trying to cover for those 27 positions; do exactly what is required and nothing more. This company has proven time and again that loyalty is a one-way street.
