The shift in the review cycle definitely feels intentional. When HR pushes deadlines up, it rarely means they’re just looking to clear the calendar before the holidays. It usually signals that leadership wants a clear picture of the budget and staffing levels before the next fiscal quarter begins. If they are moving this quickly, they likely want the data to execute any necessary moves before year-end accounting closes. Keep your head down and make sure all your contributions are well-documented in the system right now.
I wouldn't overthink the timeline just yet. Managers often push these reviews earlier to ensure they don't have to deal with calibration meetings during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s a common strategy to avoid the productivity dip that happens when everyone is checking out for the break. That said, it’s always smart to have your achievements summarized regardless of the internal climate. If you've been meeting your KPIs, you're in a much better spot than you think, regardless of when they decide to finalize the scores.
