Gartner Consulting - Client budgets seem to be shrinking. Anyone else notice?

Hey everyone, I've been with Gartner Consulting for a few years now, and lately, I'm getting a weird vibe. It feels like clients are tightening their belts more than usual. We're seeing more pushback on project scopes, longer approval cycles, and some deals that felt like shoe-ins are suddenly going cold or getting significantly reduced. Is this just my practice area, or are others in consulting seeing this widespread budget contraction? I'm not hearing any official talk, but the pipeline feels… thinner. Makes you wonder what's coming down the pipe for us. Anyone else experiencing this significant shift in client spending habits? What are you hearing internally, or from your client interactions?

Definitely seeing a similar trend. It's not just you. Project justifications are becoming much more rigorous, and ROI needs to be crystal clear and often demonstrated upfront. We're also experiencing more requests for phased approaches or scaled-down initial implementations to manage client risk and internal budget approvals. Seems like everyone is being asked to do more with less, and that's definitely impacting how consulting engagements are being scoped and approved right now.

Yeah, the 'purse strings' are definitely feeling tighter across the board. It feels like a general economic caution is filtering down into IT and strategic spending decisions. Clients are prioritizing mission-critical initiatives and scrutinizing anything that seems discretionary or long-term without immediate, tangible returns. It's making the sales cycle more challenging, and requires a sharper focus on demonstrating value and alignment with core business objectives from the very beginning of any engagement.
