Gartner Consulting - Effectiveness of our core offerings questioned?

This is more of a thought/concern than a direct layoff report, but I'm wondering if the market's perception of our value is shifting. Given the recent buzz around certain tech trends and how companies are evaluating their investments, I'm starting to worry if our traditional advisory models are still resonating as strongly. Are clients getting more skeptical about the ROI of consulting engagements, especially when they can access readily available (and often cheaper) information elsewhere? I'm not seeing immediate red flags in terms of workload, but the underlying sentiment feels a bit more precarious than usual. Curious to hear if others feel this way or if I'm just overthinking.

I've seen similar discussions internally. It feels like clients are much more discerning now, demanding clear, quantifiable outcomes rather than just strategic roadmaps. The accessibility of information online certainly plays a role, pushing consultants to prove their unique value proposition more than ever. We might need to pivot towards more specialized, data-driven services that offer tangible competitive advantages.

Definitely a valid concern. The days of just 'telling' clients what to do are fading fast. They want partnership, co-creation, and demonstrable impact. If our core offerings aren't evolving to meet that demand for measurable ROI and agile solutions, then yes, market perception is bound to shift. It's a challenging time that requires strategic adaptation.
