Gartner Consulting - Performance reviews feel extra brutal lately.

Just finished my performance review cycle here at Gartner Consulting, and wow. It felt significantly harsher than previous years. Conversations were heavily focused on 'efficiency' and 'impact,' and frankly, the bar seemed incredibly high, even for solid performers. A few colleagues who usually get good ratings were also surprised by their outcomes. Makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Is this just standard practice, or is there an underlying agenda? Feels like they're really scrutinizing every dollar spent and every hour billed. Anyone else have a similar experience this review cycle? Wondering if this is leading up to something or just a general tightening of the belt.
