Gartner Consulting - Seeing a dip in engagement on existing accounts?

Hey team, has anyone else noticed a shift in how clients are engaging with our existing retainers or ongoing projects? Normally by this time of year, we're deep into planning for the next phase, or clients are actively seeking extensions and upsells. Lately, it feels like a lot of 'wait and see' or 'we'll circle back after the holidays.' It's not just new business that feels slow; it's like the fuel is sputtering on the projects we already have locked in. Makes me wonder if client priorities have really shifted dramatically, or if there's something else going on that we're not seeing on the ground floor. Anyone else experiencing this on their accounts?

Definitely feeling this too. The usual Q4 push for expanded scope or renewal conversations seems to have stalled. It's not just about economic uncertainty; it feels like a fundamental shift in how clients are prioritizing or even perceiving the value of ongoing advisory services. We're seeing more questions around tangible ROI and less automatic buy-in for the next steps. It's making us re-evaluate our own value proposition and how we articulate it to ensure it resonates with current client pressures.

I've observed a similar trend. There's a palpable hesitancy to commit to new phases or additional services, even on established accounts. It feels like clients are battening down the hatches, focusing on core operations and deferring anything that isn't an absolute must-have. We're having to be much more deliberate in demonstrating immediate impact and alignment with their most pressing concerns, rather than relying on the momentum of previous engagements. It requires a sharper focus on immediate, demonstrable value.
