Gartner Consulting: Anyone else feeling the pressure to do more with less?

Seems like the expectation on project delivery is constantly increasing, while the resources and budget allocated remain stagnant or even shrink. We're being asked to achieve the same or better outcomes with fewer people, shorter timelines, and tighter budgets. This is creating a lot of stress on the delivery teams, constantly feeling like we're under the gun. Utilization targets are still there, but the work available feels spread thinner. Is this just my experience or is it a broader trend within consulting? Feels like we're expected to be magicians, pulling rabbits out of hats with half the hat size.

Absolutely feeling this. It's like a constant uphill battle to prove value when the goalposts keep moving. The pressure to deliver complex solutions with diminished resources is immense. It makes you question how sustainable this model is long-term, not just for individual well-being but for the quality of the work itself. Trying to innovate and be strategic when you're just trying to keep your head above water is a huge challenge.

Client expectations are sky-high, often based on past engagements with different resource levels. It creates a tough environment where teams are stretched thin, and the focus shifts from strategic partnership to just getting the current project across the finish line, often at the expense of team morale and work-life balance.
