Lots of 'temporary' roles popping up?

Lately, I've noticed a weird trend across a couple of teams I interact with. There are a lot more job postings that are explicitly labeled as 'contract' or 'temporary', sometimes for roles that feel pretty core to what the teams do. Usually, we see a mix, but it feels heavily skewed this way now. It's not just the usual seasonal stuff either; these are for projects that seem like they should be ongoing. Anyone else seeing this? Is this a sign of the company trying to be flexible with headcount, or is it a precursor to something else? Just trying to make sense of it.
