Heard from a reliable source in finance that there’s a massive deck circulating right now regarding 'organizational alignment' across the North American sites. No official WARN notices or RIF announcements yet, but the mood in the office is incredibly tense. A few middle managers I’ve spoken with seem completely burnt out and aren't giving the usual 'everything is fine' reassurance—they're just telling people to keep their heads down and deliver results. It feels exactly like the lead-up to the last big shakeup. If you’re a contractor, I’d be especially careful right now; usually, they cut the extended staff first to balance the books before looking at full-time equivalents. I’ve already started refreshing my resume and reaching out to my network. If you have any inside info on specific sites that might be getting hit, please share. Better to know now than to get the calendar invite out of nowhere on a Friday morning. Stay safe out there.

The 'organizational alignment' talk is just corporate doublespeak for cutting costs to satisfy shareholders after the spin-off. I’ve seen this script play out too many times in the GE ecosystem. If leadership isn't offering any reassurance, it’s because they’ve already signed off on the headcount reduction plan. Don't wait for a formal notice to start updating your resume; check the local labor department filings in your state regularly, as those often leak before the internal announcements hit the town halls.

I'm in one of the North American sites and the silence from the top is deafening. Usually, we get a flood of 'growth mindset' emails, but everything has gone dark lately. My manager couldn't even look me in the eye during our last 1:1, which tells me all I need to know. At this point, we’re all just waiting for the calendar invite to drop for an 'all-hands' meeting that turns out to be a pre-recorded layoff video. It’s an exhausting way to work.
