Anyone else feeling the 'restructuring' tension lately?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at Gen felt a lot heavier over the past month? Ever since the integration talk ramped up, the number of 'strategic alignment' meetings on my calendar has doubled. It feels like every week there’s some new vague initiative about optimizing workflows or streamlining the stack, but no one ever explains what that actually means for headcount. I’ve been through M&A cycles before, and this quiet period right before a potential announcement is always the worst part. Leadership keeps pushing the 'synergy' buzzword, but the reality is that I’m seeing teams pushed to output way more with less support. My manager is suddenly giving very non-committal answers when I ask about project roadmaps for Q3. I’m starting to get that itch to update my resume just in case. Has anyone heard anything specific from their skip-levels, or are we all just waiting for the other shoe to drop?

The 'strategic alignment' language is honestly getting exhausting. It feels like every time leadership sends out a company-wide email about synergy or operational efficiency, the anxiety in the office spikes. You’re definitely not imagining it; the tension is palpable. At this point, most of us are just waiting for the other shoe to drop so we can stop guessing what 'optimizing' actually implies for our teams. It’s hard to stay focused on deliverables when the shadow of potential cuts feels this close.

I've been bracing for it too. The frequency of these meetings is definitely a red flag, and the ambiguity from management makes the atmosphere incredibly heavy. I’ve noticed the same pattern in previous roles—whenever the corporate jargon starts hitting this level of saturation, it’s rarely a sign of stability. Just keep your resume polished and stay ready for anything. It sucks that we're stuck in this limbo, but you're definitely not alone in feeling like the floor is about to shift.
