The shift in tone is definitely noticeable. Whenever leadership starts throwing around terms like 'synergy optimization,' it is usually code for cutting headcount to appease shareholders. I’ve been through enough of these integrations to know that when 1:1s get canceled and project updates go dark, the writing is on the wall. Start updating your resume now and keep your head down; it is better to be prepared for the worst than caught off guard when the calendar invites for 'all-hands' meetings start appearing without an agenda.
Honestly, I wouldn't panic just yet. Every time a major acquisition happens, there is a period of adjustment where teams feel uncertain. Silence often just means management is buried in planning or compliance work rather than something sinister. While it is natural to be worried when communication slows down, stay focused on your core deliverables for now. If there were genuine RIFs imminent, you would likely see more signs than just a quiet Slack channel and a rescheduled meeting. Keep doing your job and wait for the official comms.
