I’ve been feeling the exact same thing. The town hall messaging felt completely disconnected from the reality on the ground. When they start throwing around phrases like 'operational efficiency,' it’s a massive red flag that they’re preparing for layoffs or some kind of restructuring. We’re being asked to do the work of three people with fewer tools than before, and the burnout is already starting to show across our department. It feels like the focus has shifted entirely away from the quality of our output and strictly toward padding the numbers for the next earnings call, regardless of the cost to the people actually doing the work.
Look, it’s not just you. The vibe shift is palpable, and everyone I talk to in the breakroom is bracing for impact. It’s pretty obvious that leadership is scrambling to meet those aggressive targets, but the strategy feels totally unsustainable. They keep pushing these 'streamlining' initiatives, yet all it does is add layers of bureaucratic red tape while starving our projects of the necessary budget. Honestly, I’m just keeping my head down and quietly updating my resume. If things don’t change by the end of the quarter, I’m not sticking around to see what the next phase of this 'pivot' looks like.
