Anyone else noticing the hiring freeze creeping into GBD?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at the home office shifted lately? I’ve been hearing whispers about some internal teams getting their budget requests for Q3 and Q4 kicked back by finance. Usually, we’re pushing hard on headcount this time of year to gear up for the seasonal cycles, but everything feels weirdly locked down right now. I’ve reached out to a couple of friends in engineering and they’re saying the same thing—open roles are just vanishing from the portal without being filled. I’m not trying to panic-post, but there’s a distinct 'hunker down' vibe coming from management that I haven't felt in a few years. Has anyone heard if the performance targets for the back half of the year got adjusted, or are we just tightening the belt across the board to save face for the investors?

I’ve seen the same pattern in my department. It isn't just whispers; management is definitely tightening the belt across the board. We had two open requisitions for support staff that were sitting ready for interviews, and both were pulled by HR without any explanation. Everyone is walking on eggshells lately, and the general vibe is that we are bracing for something bigger before the end of the year. If you're looking for stability, this isn't exactly a great sign for the upcoming quarter.

Honestly, it feels like the honeymoon period is over. I noticed the portal clearing out last week too, and it’s a massive pivot from the aggressive hiring targets we were told about during the last all-hands. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re preparing to trim the fat before the fiscal year ends. My lead won’t confirm anything, but the lack of communication from leadership is the loudest signal we’ve had yet. Keep your options open and polish your resume just in case things get worse.
