I'm right there with you. The 'do more with less' mantra is starting to feel like a cruel joke when there's no visibility into what that actually means long-term. It's hard to invest yourself fully when you feel like your team, or even your own role, could be on the chopping block without warning. This constant uncertainty is a productivity killer, plain and simple. Management needs to understand the impact this is having on actual output, not just the bottom line.
This is a critical point. The lack of transparency around staffing is more than just annoying; it's actively damaging the company culture. When employees feel undervalued and insecure about their future, their commitment naturally wanes. Projects suffer, quality can dip, and good people start looking elsewhere. Leadership really needs to address this head-on with clear, honest communication. Pretending the issue doesn't exist or offering vague platitudes isn't working.
