Yeah, definitely feeling that on my end too. Travel requests are getting shot down left and right, or at least heavily delayed. Used to be a pretty standard approval process for client meetings or critical project needs, but now it's like you have to justify every mile. My team lead is also just citing budget limitations, which makes sense to a degree, but it's impacting our ability to connect effectively with stakeholders and even get hands-on with some of the equipment we're responsible for. Hoping it's a temporary squeeze and not a sign of bigger issues down the line.
I haven't personally noticed a significant change in travel approvals, but then again, my role doesn't require frequent client site visits. We do have some internal training that's been shifted to virtual formats, which might be a cost-saving measure. It's possible that different departments or programs have varying budget priorities, leading to these discrepancies. It would be helpful to get more clarity from leadership on the specific drivers behind any travel restrictions being implemented.
