GD - Anyone else feeling the budget tightening on operational expenses?

Lately, it feels like every expense beyond direct project costs is under a microscope. We're talking about things like training budgets, software licenses for non-essential tools, even office supplies. My department had a request for some updated software that would genuinely improve efficiency, and it got shot down pretty quickly with a generic 'budget constraints' excuse. It's not just my team either; I've heard similar grumblings from colleagues in other divisions about their ops budgets getting slashed or frozen. Makes you wonder if this is a company-wide push to conserve cash, or if individual divisions are just being squeezed harder. Anyone else seeing this kind of pullback on the non-project side of things?

Yeah, I've been feeling that across the board. Seems like anything not directly tied to a billable project or a critical defense contract is getting a serious side-eye. My team's been pushing back on replacing some aging equipment that's becoming more of a liability than an asset, and the response has been the same. It's definitely making it harder to keep things running smoothly when you're constantly justifying every single penny that isn't part of the main show.

Definitely noticing the squeeze. It's like they're trying to squeeze blood from a stone on the operational side. You'd think they'd understand that investing in things like better training or more efficient tools *saves* money in the long run by preventing errors or speeding up processes. Instead, it's just a blanket cut, and everyone's left scrambling to make do with less. Frustrating to say the least.
