GD - Is it just me, or are internal transfers becoming harder?

I've been looking to move to a different division within GD for a while now. I've seen a couple of roles open up that seem like a great fit for my skills and career goals. However, each time I've applied, it feels like there's a significant hurdle. The process seems to take much longer than it used to, and follow-up is minimal. I've heard from a few people that management is becoming more hesitant to approve internal moves, especially if it means backfilling a role that might be considered 'redundant' or at risk. It makes sense from a cost-saving perspective, I guess, but it's really frustrating for employees who are trying to grow within the company. Is anyone else having trouble moving internally? Are you seeing the same reluctance from hiring managers or HR? Just trying to gauge if this is a common experience right now or if I should be looking at external options sooner rather than later. It's tough when you feel like you're hitting a wall within your own company.
