General Dynamics - Is hiring really slowing down across the board?

I've been peripherally involved in trying to fill a couple of roles within my team, and it's been surprisingly slow going. The requisitions have been open for ages, and HR seems to be taking a lot longer to get candidates through the pipeline, if they're even getting them. It's not just my department either; I've heard similar grumblings from friends in other parts of GD. It used to be that even if internal transfers were tricky, external hiring was still pretty robust. Now it feels like there's a much tighter leash on bringing new people in. Makes me wonder if they're anticipating a slowdown or just being way more selective than usual. Anyone else struggling with getting headcount approved or seeing a freeze on new external hires?

My experience echoes this. We've had open requisitions for key positions for months now, and the candidate pool seems much thinner than usual. What's concerning is the lack of urgency or clear communication from HR regarding the hiring process. It makes planning and team development really challenging when you can't bring in the talent you need. Hopefully, this is a temporary lull and not a sign of a broader slowdown.

I can confirm this is happening in my division as well. It's not just slow; it feels like a complete freeze on many roles. The usual channels for recruitment aren't yielding results, and there's a noticeable lack of activity. Colleagues in different business units have shared similar stories. It's unusual for a company of GD's size and scope to experience such a widespread hiring slowdown without a clear explanation.
