Anyone else getting weird vibes from the recent leadership town halls?

Is it just me, or did the tone shift significantly over the last two weeks? The usual 'we are growing' narrative feels like it’s been replaced by a heavy emphasis on 'streamlining operations' and 'reallocating resources.' They keep saying we’re in a strong position, but usually, when leadership starts leaning this hard into the efficiency talk without providing any concrete targets, it’s a precursor to a reduction in force. I’ve been through a few cycles at other insurance firms, and this feels like the classic pre-layoff pivot. Anyone else feeling like the atmosphere is getting tenser on the floor, or am I just reading too much into the corporate speak? The lack of clarity regarding the Q3 budget is really starting to get to people in my department.

You’re definitely not imagining it. I’ve been here for years, and every time the vocabulary shifts toward 'operational efficiency' and 'synergies' without any clear growth KPIs, the rumors start for a reason. It feels like they’re softening the blow for something that’s already been decided in the boardroom. The lack of transparency during the last town hall was glaring, and the way they dodged specific questions about the roadmap for Q4 was a massive red flag. Watch your back and make sure your resume is updated just in case.
