Anyone else notice the uptick in 'efficiency' buzzwords lately?

Is it just me, or has the vibe in the office shifted over the last couple of weeks? Management keeps dropping these vague comments about 'streamlining operations' and 'focusing on core competencies' in every single team meeting. I’ve been through enough cycles to know that whenever leadership starts talking about efficiency, someone in accounting is already drawing up a spreadsheet of who can be cut to save on overhead. The performance metrics have become borderline impossible to hit, and the manager-to-rep ratio feels like it’s being manipulated to make certain teams look redundant. Has anyone heard anything about a potential RIF or department consolidation coming down the pipeline for Q3? Just trying to figure out if I should start polishing my resume this weekend or if I’m just being paranoid.

The 'streamlining' talk is definitely a red flag. I’ve been at Globe for a few years, and every time the buzzwords start flying, the layoffs follow shortly after. They dangle these impossible metrics in front of us just to justify the cuts when we inevitably 'underperform.' Start updating your resume now and keep your head down until the dust settles. It’s the same old cycle every time they try to squeeze more blood from the stone.

Honestly, I wouldn't panic just yet. Every major company goes through these efficiency phases where management tries to look productive to the board. It’s annoying, sure, but it doesn't always mean mass layoffs are imminent. They might just be shuffling departments to cut costs in areas that aren't revenue-generating. Take the metrics with a grain of salt and focus on doing your job well—sometimes the noise is just noise, and management is just trying to look busy.
