Is there actually a plan, or are we just bleeding talent?

I’ve been at Globe Life for a few years now, and honestly, the morale is at an all-time low. Every single quarter there’s some kind of 'strategic shift' that ends in a fresh round of layoffs. At what point does leadership realize that cutting the staff that actually does the work is just going to sink the ship? The turnover rate is skyrocketing and the people left behind are just burning out trying to cover the responsibilities of three different roles. I’m tired of hearing the leadership team talk about 'long-term growth' while they treat us like disposable line items on a spreadsheet. If you’re still here, are you actively looking for the exit, or are you waiting to see if things stabilize? I’m starting to think this is just the new permanent state of the company.

I feel your pain. I’ve seen this exact cycle play out multiple times over the last few years. It’s always the same story: leadership announces a 'pivot' or a 'strategic realignment,' and suddenly half the team is gone. You’re right about the burnout; watching good people get pushed out while the rest of us are expected to absorb their entire workload is completely unsustainable. It’s not just you—the culture has definitely shifted for the worse, and it feels like the people who actually know how to run the business are the ones being shown the door.

Honestly, stop waiting for them to 'realize' anything. Management clearly views headcount as a simple line item to be reduced rather than the engine driving the company forward. If you’re already burning out and seeing the turnover skyrocket, take that as your sign to start looking elsewhere. They aren't going to change their strategy because they don't value the institutional knowledge they are losing. Protect your own mental health and career trajectory—find somewhere that actually recognizes the value of the people doing the heavy lifting.
