I’ve definitely noticed that shift too. It feels like the focus has moved away from the 'heart' of the company toward metrics and lean operations. Whenever leadership starts throwing around words like 'streamlining,' it’s never a good sign for the rank and file. I’ve been keeping my resume updated just in case, because that family-first culture feels like it’s being replaced by cold corporate pragmatism. It's a stressful time to be here, and the uncertainty is starting to weigh on everyone I talk to in the office.
Honestly, I think you're overthinking it. H-E-B has always had to innovate to stay ahead of national chains, and 'efficiency' is just part of staying competitive in this economy. I haven't seen anything that suggests mass layoffs are coming; if anything, the company is doubling down on tech to make our jobs easier in the long run. Try not to let the rumor mill get to you. Things change, sure, but I still think this is one of the better places to work compared to the alternatives.
