Anyone else notice a hiring freeze?

Hey everyone, been with H-town for a few years now and usually things are pretty steady, even with the oil price rollercoaster. But lately, it feels like the brakes have been put on. My department's been trying to fill a couple of key roles for months now, and HR keeps saying 'no new hires at this time' or 'hiring paused'. Same goes for seeing new job postings pop up internally – way fewer than usual. It's making me a bit antsy, to be honest. Is this just a temporary thing or is anyone else seeing this across different divisions? Trying to gauge the general mood and see if it's just my little corner of the company or a wider trend.

Yeah, I've been seeing the same thing across a few different divisions. It's definitely a change from the usual pace. I was expecting things to pick up after the last downturn, but it seems like the company is being very cautious with spending and headcount right now. Hoping it's just a short-term adjustment and not a sign of bigger issues.

Definitely not just you. There's been a lot of chatter about it internally. Budgets are tight, and projects seem to be on hold or scaled back. It's creating a bit of uncertainty, for sure. Let's hope management has a clear plan for how long this will last and what the strategy is moving forward.
