It's the classic Halliburton playbook. They never want to pull the trigger on a massive layoff because of the PR hit, so they just let the headcount slowly wither away through natural attrition. When they freeze backfills indefinitely, they're essentially betting that the remaining team members will just pick up the extra slack without complaint. It's frustrating to watch, but this cycle is nothing new for the company. They’ll keep squeezing the remaining staff until things either break or the market turns around, and unfortunately, we’re the ones feeling the burn of that 'strategic' silence.
I’ve noticed the exact same thing in our division. It is infuriating how they hide behind corporate buzzwords instead of being transparent about the budget constraints. We are seeing the same 'under review' status on roles that are critical for our daily operations, which just makes the remaining workload unsustainable. Honestly, morale is cratering because we all know that the 'strategic resource allocation' line is just a polite way of saying they don't value our retention. It feels like we are just waiting for the other shoe to drop at this point.
