Contractors getting the axe?

Just heard through the grapevine that some of the temp/contract roles in Operations Support are being cut. No official word, of course, but a couple of guys I know who were on contract staffing just got their notice yesterday. They've been here for a while too, not just short-term gig workers. Makes you wonder if this is a precursor to anything bigger, or just a standard cost-saving move when budgets get tight. Anyone else in a similar boat or heard similar whispers? Seems like contractors are often the first ones to feel the pinch, but still, it's a bit unsettling to see.
