Hiring freeze rumors or is it just me?

I've been trying to get some visibility on open roles for a couple of potential candidates I know, and it's been crickets. Recruiters I've spoken to are being really vague, saying 'limited openings' or 'process is slow.' This is totally different from the usual pace. My department head also hinted that we should expect hiring to slow considerably for the next quarter or two. No official announcement, of course, but the signs are all there. Has anyone heard anything concrete, or is this just the usual cyclical slowdown in the industry? Trying to get a feel for the overall company health and future outlook from this.

I've noticed the same thing. It's been incredibly difficult to get any clear answers regarding job openings. Recruiters are definitely being cagey, and the general vibe is that things have tightened up significantly. My team is also under pressure to hold off on new hires unless absolutely critical. It feels like a deliberate slowdown, even if they aren't shouting it from the rooftops. Definitely a departure from the usual hiring push we've seen in previous years.

Yeah, the quietness is deafening. I've had friends reach out about opportunities, and the response has been non-committal at best. It's unusual for them to be so unresponsive, especially for roles that typically move fast. The 'limited openings' and 'slow process' lines are becoming a broken record. Management seems to be steering clear of any official statements, but the practical reality is a hiring slowdown. Makes you wonder what's driving it.
