Interview Process Slowdown? What's Going On?

Applied for a couple of roles at H-Town a few weeks back. Normally, I'd expect some sort of initial screening or at least an automated rejection by now, but crickets. This is unusual, as I've interviewed with them before and the process was pretty streamlined. It's not just me though, a buddy of mine who's in HR mentioned their team has seen a significant drop in requisitions being opened and a general slowdown in approvals for new hires. Not sure if it's related to the recent market fluctuations or something specific to the energy sector right now. Anyone else go through the interview process recently and experience a similar delay? Trying to gauge if this is a company-wide hiring pause or if the roles I'm looking at are just highly competitive. Any insights from recruiters or hiring managers would be appreciated.

Yeah, I've noticed a similar trend recently. Applied for a few positions myself a while back and haven't heard anything. It's a bit frustrating when you're actively looking, especially when you've had positive experiences with a company's hiring process in the past. The market's definitely unpredictable right now, so I'm trying not to read too much into it, but it's hard not to wonder what's causing the extended silence. Hopefully, things pick up soon for everyone waiting on an offer.

That's interesting you're hearing the same thing from your HR contact. I've been following the energy sector closely, and there have been a lot of shifts lately. It wouldn't be surprising if companies like Halliburton are taking a more cautious approach to hiring and approvals until the economic landscape stabilizes a bit more. Keep your chin up, these things can be cyclical. Persistence is key in this job market.
