Quiet period at the Houston campus?

Is it just me, or has the office been suspiciously quiet lately? Usually, by this time of year, we’re drowning in project briefs and travel approvals, but things feel like they’ve hit a brick wall. My manager canceled our last two monthly syncs with zero explanation, and the vibes in the breakroom are definitely 'don't make eye contact.' I’ve heard whispers about the Q3 budget being re-evaluated for North America, but nothing concrete. Has anyone else noticed a slowdown in procurement approvals or travel? Trying to figure out if this is standard mid-cycle hesitation or if we’re gearing up for another round of 'streamlining' before the fiscal year ends. Don’t want to be caught off guard if the HR portal suddenly starts looking busy.

Same here. Procurement has been a black hole for weeks. I submitted a routine hardware request early last month and it’s still sitting in 'pending' status without a peep from the approver. The silence from leadership is honestly more stressful than a formal announcement. We’ve been through these cycles before, but the lack of transparency this time feels different. I’m just keeping my head down and working on the existing backlog until we get some actual clarity on the budget situation.

You aren't imagining things. The atmosphere in the building is noticeably strained, and the lack of communication from management is fueling some pretty wild speculation. Whenever the monthly syncs start getting axed without a reschedule, it’s usually a signal that leadership is trying to minimize the space for difficult questions. I wouldn't hold your breath for any concrete answers today, but it’s probably wise to tighten up your personal budget and refresh your network just in case those rumors about Q3 prove accurate.
