Anyone else feeling uneasy lately?

I've been with Home Depot for 7 years, mostly in the garden center. I've seen seasonal slowdowns, sure, but this feels different. There's been a weird vibe – lots of closed-door meetings with corporate folks I don't recognize, and our store manager seems extra stressed. They're pushing us HARD on metrics, even more than usual. I overheard a conversation in the break room about 'restructuring' and 'efficiency improvements'. Anyone else getting a bad feeling about potential layoffs? I'm not sure I could handle another job search right now. Mortgage rates are insane!

I've been feeling it too. I'm in lumber, and the budget cuts are definitely noticeable. We're constantly short-staffed, and inventory seems to be all over the place. The pressure from above to meet targets with fewer resources is insane. 'Restructuring' is corporate speak for 'someone's losing their job'. Start updating your resume, just in case. It's better to be prepared than caught off guard.

Honestly, it sounds like typical retail anxiety. Remember the spring rush last year? Everyone was saying the same thing. Corporate always rolls through with their efficiency initiatives. It's usually just a lot of hot air. Focus on what you can control – hit your metrics, be reliable, and don't get caught up in the rumor mill. Panicking won't help anything. But yeah, keep an eye out.
