Anyone else heard whispers about the SSC restructure?

I’ve been at the SSC for about six years now, and the vibe lately is just... off. We had a team meeting earlier today that was supposed to be about 'streamlining workflows,' but we all know what that actually translates to. The rumor mill is spinning hard about another round of headcount reductions hitting middle management by the end of the quarter. It’s the same old script: they talk about 'synergy' and 'efficiency' while everyone is secretly refreshing their LinkedIn and scrubbing their internal drives. I’ve noticed a lot of 'optional' projects being pushed onto my team lately, which feels like they’re trying to squeeze every drop of productivity out of us before they swing the axe. Is anyone seeing this in their specific departments, or is it just my floor? I’m exhausted from the constant threat of a layoff. It feels like we’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop at this point.

That 'synergy' talk is corporate code for trimming the budget on the backs of loyal employees. I saw the same pattern play out three years ago, and it never ends well for the people who actually keep the gears turning. Keep your head down, finish your projects, and make sure your internal network is solid. If they are truly targeting middle management, it is time to have your portfolio ready and your references lined up just in case the worst happens. Don't wait for them to give you the heads-up.

I worked at the SSC for a long time and the 'streamlining' language is just the standard script they pull out whenever the stock price needs a little artificial boost. Honestly, it is exhausting to watch the same cycle of anxiety every few quarters. If you are feeling that vibe, trust your gut. The best advice I can give is to stop worrying about the company's bottom line and start worrying about your own personal career trajectory. Update that resume tonight, reach out to recruiters, and don't let their corporate speak make you feel like your role is suddenly redundant.
