Hey everyone, I've got an interview coming up for a [Specific Role, e.g., Assistant Store Manager] position at Home Depot. I've been reading a lot of stuff online, and while some experiences are positive, I'm seeing recurring mentions of a less-than-stable job market within the company lately. Some posts hint at layoffs or freezes without official announcements, and others talk about increased workload. For those currently employed at HD or who have recently interviewed, what's the current climate like? Is it a good time to join, or should I be wary? Any insights into the interview process itself would also be super helpful. What kind of questions can I expect, and what are they looking for? Any advice on navigating potential concerns about job security during the interview would be greatly appreciated. Trying to go in with my eyes open.

I worked at Home Depot for a few years and can say it really depends on the store and your specific department. Management can make or break the experience. Some managers are great and really invest in their teams, while others can be a bit more hands-off or overwhelmed. The workload can definitely pick up during peak seasons, but that's pretty standard in retail. If the role is management, expect to deal with a lot of people issues and operational challenges. Good luck with your interview!

I'm currently a shopper at HD, and it's been a mixed bag for me. I've seen some colleagues move on, but I haven't personally felt the instability others mention. The pay is decent for the work, and the benefits can be pretty good if you're full-time. The biggest thing is the pace – it's rarely boring, but it can be physically demanding. If you're up for a fast-paced environment and enjoy helping customers, it might be a good fit. Just be prepared for the rush periods.
