Honeywell - Performance review season feels extra stressful this year

Just finished my performance review and man, it felt like the stakes were higher than usual. My manager was really pushing the 'impact' and 'efficiency' narrative, more so than in previous years. There wasn't any direct talk of job cuts, but the emphasis on individual contributions and how they align with 'business critical functions' felt a little... intense. It's that time of year anyway, but the underlying tone seemed different. Wondering if this is just me or if others are feeling a similar pressure cooker environment during reviews. Trying to stay optimistic but also realistic about the current climate.

I hear you. The 'impact' talk is definitely ramping up. It feels like they're trying to get everyone to quantify their value in very specific ways. It's not necessarily a bad thing in theory, but when it's coupled with that extra intensity you mentioned, it can definitely create some anxiety. Hoping it's just the usual annual review pressure cooker, but I'm also keeping an ear to the ground.

Yeah, the focus on 'business critical functions' is something I've noticed too. It makes sense from a strategic perspective, but when it's delivered with a heavier hand during reviews, it can make you wonder what's *not* considered critical. It's definitely a good time to make sure your contributions are visible and clearly linked to the company's priorities, whatever the underlying reasons for the shift in emphasis.
