Hormel: Just got a recruiter reach out - Layoffs looming?

Hey everyone, throwing this out there to see if anyone else is hearing similar things or has any insight. I'm not currently at Hormel, but a recruiter reached out to me about a role there. It seemed a bit out of the blue, and it got me thinking. With the current economic climate and how consumer goods companies have been navigating it, I'm wondering if there's some internal restructuring or potential workforce adjustments happening at Hormel that might not be public yet. The recruiter was pretty cagey when I asked about team stability and growth. Has anyone experienced anything similar recently, or heard any whispers about potential layoffs or hiring freezes at Hormel? Trying to get a feel for the situation before I dive too deep into the interview process. Any information or gut feelings would be appreciated.

Interesting you bring this up. I haven't heard direct layoff rumors, but it's true that the CPG space has been a bit unpredictable lately. Companies are definitely looking at optimizing costs and streamlining operations. A recruiter reaching out doesn't automatically mean doom and gloom – they often have roles open even during general belt-tightening. It could be for growth areas or replacing attrition. Still, it's wise to be aware of the broader market trends and how they might impact even stable companies like Hormel.

That's a curious observation. While I don't have insider information about Hormel specifically, it's not uncommon for companies to engage recruiters proactively, even if major layoffs aren't on the immediate horizon. Sometimes it's about building talent pipelines for future needs or filling specialized roles that become vacant. However, given the economic headwinds, it's understandable why you'd connect the dots. It's always a good idea to do your due diligence when considering new opportunities, regardless of the company.
