Just saw the WARN notice for the Grafton location. 90 people let go effective June 15th. It’s always the same story—leadership talks about 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining' while the people who actually keep the lines running get the boot. Does anyone know if this is limited to Grafton or if they’re planning more cuts across other aerospace sites in the coming months? The lack of transparency is honestly the most frustrating part. It is honestly disgusting how they frame these mass layoffs as mere 'operational efficiency.' People are losing their livelihoods while the stock price stays propped up. I have heard whispers from a few contacts at the other sites that they are looking at similar headcount reductions to pad the margins before the end of the fiscal year. I am sorry to hear about what happened at the Grafton site; it is a tough pill to swallow when you see your coworkers get walked out. Unfortunately, this seems to be the new normal for Howmet lately. They have been pushing these 'streamlining' initiatives aggressively to keep investors happy, and usually, that means hitting the ground floor hard. Based on what I have seen in internal memos recently, it is highly unlikely that Grafton will be the only location affected. Expect things to stay volatile for at least the next two quarters.
