The silence from leadership is deafening, and you’re right to be concerned. That 625 figure has been hanging over our heads for years like a guillotine blade. It’s a classic corporate play: keep everyone exhausted with mandatory overtime so we’re too tired to ask questions while they quietly shuffle the numbers behind closed doors. If your lead is suddenly avoiding eye contact, trust your gut. They know something is brewing, and they aren't authorized to say a word until the hammer drops. Start updating your resume tonight, just in case.
Honestly, I wouldn't stress about the rumors too much. We’ve been hearing this ‘thinning the herd’ talk since 2020, and yet the facility is still humming. The mandatory OT is likely just a response to current production demand, not some grand distraction strategy. Management is usually tight-lipped because they’re terrified of legal leaks or stock volatility. Just focus on your shift and collect the overtime pay while it’s available. If it really goes south, you’ll have a nice chunk of change saved up to cover your transition.
