The Freeburg announcement confirms the worst

It’s finally official—110 people getting the axe in Freeburg. The notification landed right on the 24th as expected, but that doesn't make it any easier to digest. We’ve been living in this state of constant uncertainty for so long that I suppose we should have seen this coming, but that doesn't make the reality of the situation any less brutal. Most of the folks impacted are long-tenured, which makes the whole thing feel even more soulless. Management loves to talk about 'streamlining' and 'operational excellence' in the town halls, but when you strip away the corporate buzzwords, it’s just people’s livelihoods being deleted to make the balance sheet look better for the shareholders. To those who were affected today: I’m incredibly sorry. I’ve been through a layoff before and I know the mix of anger and panic you're feeling right now. Make sure you don't sign anything until you’ve had a chance to breathe, and definitely don't rush the severance process if you can avoid it. For the rest of us, stay vigilant.

It is absolutely gutting to hear this. Watching 110 people lose their livelihoods right after all that anticipation is just heartless. I’ve worked with a few of those folks over the years, and they are the backbone of that facility. Hubbell management has a way of hiding behind corporate buzzwords while destroying careers, but calling it 'streamlining' is just a coward’s way of washing their hands of the damage they cause. My thoughts go out to everyone in Freeburg dealing with this right now.

At this point, are we really surprised? Hubbell has been telegraphing this move for months, but the lack of actual human empathy in the process is what really stings. These aren’t just line items on a spreadsheet; they are families and long-term employees who helped build the company’s reputation. 'Streamlining' is just a sanitized term for failing to manage operations effectively. It’s a sad day, but unfortunately, it’s just the standard playbook for this leadership team.
