Anyone else feeling the pressure to do more with less?

It feels like every week there’s a new email about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining workflows.' The headcount cuts keep happening, but the volume of work stays exactly the same—if not higher. I’m currently covering the workload of two people who were let go in the last round, and my manager is still asking why projects are moving slower than usual. It’s gaslighting at its finest. You can’t trim 87 people and expect the same velocity. The culture shift over the last year is palpable; nobody wants to collaborate or go the extra mile because we’re all just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Is it just my department, or is the entire org feeling this heavy? I’m starting to look at other mid-sized banks, but I’m worried that the whole sector is just engaging in these mass layoffs to make their balance sheets look pretty for investors. Is there anywhere left that isn’t just a revolving door of staff?

The efficiency push at Huntington is becoming a joke. Leadership loves to talk about 'synergies' and 'streamlining' in every town hall, but they ignore the reality on the ground. We’re losing institutional knowledge with every round of cuts, and those of us left are just keeping our heads above water. It’s exhausting to hear about record profitability while we’re scrambling to cover three jobs at once. The morale in my department is at an all-time low, and the talent drain is becoming obvious to anyone actually paying attention.

I hear you loud and clear. It’s the classic corporate playbook: demand more productivity while slashing the resources necessary to achieve it. I’ve stopped trying to hit the unrealistic deadlines they set because it’s simply impossible without burning out entirely. If they want the output of two people, they should have kept two people. At this point, I’m just doing my best to document everything and wait for the next wave of 'reorganization.' Don't let their gaslighting get to you; you’re only one person, and they know it.
