It is honestly disgusting to watch ITW hide behind 'operational efficiency' while hundreds of families in Holland lose their livelihoods. We all know what this really is: a desperate attempt to juice the stock price before the next earnings call by gutting the skilled labor force. I have worked for this company long enough to see the cycle repeat, and they never care about the people on the ground. Once they start cutting, they never know when to stop. Keep your resumes updated and keep your heads on a swivel, because no site is safe when leadership thinks like this.
That number is a gut punch, and the silence from corporate leadership about the future of other Midwest sites is deafening. I used to think ITW was a stable place to build a career, but that illusion has completely shattered after seeing the Holland announcement. They talk about streamlining, but it feels like a slow-motion collapse of their internal culture. I feel for everyone affected by this. At this point, I think we should all assume that management is looking at every plant through the lens of a spreadsheet rather than actual production value.
