Illinois Tool Works - Interview Process Takeaways?

Hi all, I recently went through the interview process for a [specific role, e.g., Senior Financial Analyst] position at ITW (in Illinois, specifically). Wanted to share my experience and see if others have similar or different perspectives. The process itself was fairly standard – initial HR screen, hiring manager interview, then a panel with team members. What stood out to me was the emphasis on cultural fit and aligning with ITW's specific business model (the "80/20" principle was mentioned quite a bit). It felt very structured. They were responsive, but the timeline was a bit longer than I anticipated. For anyone else who has interviewed recently, how did you find the process? Any tips for navigating the later stages or understanding what they're really looking for beyond the technical skills? Just trying to get a better feel for the company from the inside out. Thanks!

That's a great summary! I interviewed for a similar role a while back and definitely noticed the focus on the 80/20 approach. It felt like they were really trying to gauge if candidates understood how to optimize resources and focus on the most impactful initiatives. The panel interview was also quite thorough, probing into problem-solving skills. Glad to hear your experience was in line with that.

Interesting to hear about your experience. While the structure you described sounds typical, the emphasis on cultural fit and the 80/20 principle is a key differentiator for ITW. It signals they value a specific mindset and approach to business. Did you feel the questions directly tied into how you'd apply that principle in the role you were interviewing for? Good luck with the outcome!
