Illumina: Performance Reviews - What's the deal?

Okay, so performance review season is rolling around again and I'm genuinely apprehensive. Last year, despite exceeding expectations on my projects, the feedback felt a bit more… cautious. This year, with the general economic uncertainty and all the whispers about cost-cutting, I'm wondering if the calibration is going to be harsher than usual. Has anyone heard any chatter about how reviews will be handled this cycle? Are we expecting a more 'everyone gets a solid average' approach, or is there a real possibility of more lower ratings being handed out, even if performance is good? I'm trying to prepare myself mentally, but it's hard when the messaging from leadership is so vague. It feels like a lot of us are just holding our breath, waiting to see how this plays out. Anyone have any intel or insights they're willing to share? Doesn't feel great to be anxious about something that's supposed to be about growth and development.

I'm right there with you. The uncertainty definitely adds a layer of stress to performance review time. Last year felt a bit like navigating fog, trying to gauge where expectations truly lay. Hoping for more clarity this cycle, but also bracing myself for potentially tighter calibration given the current climate. Let's hope good work still gets recognized appropriately, even with the economic headwinds.
