Illumina: What's the deal with hiring freezes?

Hey everyone. Been seeing some chatter internally and externally about a general hiring freeze across a lot of departments at Illumina. No official word, of course, but a lot of requisitions seem to be on hold or getting slow-walked. Anyone else in a similar boat? Feels like the company is tightening its belt, but no one's saying why. Is this a sign of things to come, or just a temporary slowdown? I'm in R&D and my team's had a few key roles frozen for months now. Makes planning for next year pretty tough. Curious to hear what others are hearing or experiencing, especially in different divisions. Are we talking about a widespread slowdown or just specific areas feeling the pinch? Any insights would be appreciated.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed the same thing. My department has had open positions for months that are just sitting in limbo. It's tough when you're trying to staff up and get projects moving, only to have approvals stall indefinitely. Makes you wonder what the strategic priorities are, or if there's some underlying financial pressure that isn't being communicated. Hoping it's just a temporary measure and not a sign of deeper issues.
