Anyone else noticing the weird vibe in the office lately?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at the HQ shifted over the last month? I’ve been hearing a lot of whispering about 'optimizing operational efficiency' in the recent town halls, which we all know is just management-speak for impending cuts. The project roadmaps for Q3 and Q4 seem suspiciously vague, and I’ve noticed several senior leads taking back-to-back closed-door meetings that weren't on the calendar a few weeks ago. I’ve been with the company for three years and I've never seen the leadership team act this evasive when someone asks about our headcount targets for the next fiscal year. My team was supposed to start onboarding two new contractors next week, but suddenly the reqs were frozen without any explanation. Is anyone else seeing a hiring freeze in their department, or is it just our vertical? I’m trying to decide if I should start polishing my resume this weekend or if I’m just being paranoid. Any intel from the retail operations side or supply chain would be appreciated because the internal comms are giving us absolutely nothing.

The shift is definitely palpable. I’ve noticed the same pattern with the closed-door sessions and the sudden lack of transparency regarding our Q4 targets. It feels like the usual agile workflow is being strangled by excessive oversight from upstairs. If they are planning a restructuring, the vague communication is only making the anxiety worse. Keep your head down and start updating your portfolio just in case; it's better to be prepared when the internal rumors start getting this loud across departments.

Honestly, the vibe at HQ has been off for months, not just the last few weeks. Ever since the latest leadership pivot, the 'efficiency' talk has become the standard script for every meeting. It’s frustrating because we’re still hitting our performance metrics, yet the goalposts keep moving without any clear direction. I wouldn’t be surprised if the layoffs are already finalized. Trust your gut—if you’re seeing the senior leads act out of character, it usually means something significant is coming down the pipeline.
